Deadly Vanilla Sunshine: Why You Shouldn't Call Food "Crap"
This goes for other synonyms of “crap” too - junk, unhealthy, BAD, disgusting, artery clogging/heart attack inducing, poison, not “real”, empty calories, etc.
1. It literally isn’t true. Food is not poop. No matter what the nutritional qualities of certain foods…
there’s so many things wrong with this list it’s making me head hurt. I understand the eating disorder one, sort of. someone told me it’s okay to have a carvel cake for desert once in awhile….really? is it okay to smoke a cigarette once in a while? is it okay to cut myself once in awhile? is it okay to do some meth once in awhile?
going to nutrition school has really opened my eyes to the world. to me, cake is not food. ice cream is not food (even if it’s organic). mcdonalds is not food. the value meat at the grocery store is not food. cheeze its is not food.
nutrition and what the earth has to offer is love. LOVE! i can’t wait to live out in the middle of nowhere and not even understand what a grocery store is. Food CO Ops for life!
i primarily reblogged because of the point about eating disorders because let’s face it, more people than we’re aware of have one or have disordered eating patterns. honestly, it’s not my business what someone else eats so to judge it as crap would be pretty hypocritical. remarking on what other people eat is rude, triggering and inappropriate unless they have indicated that they want your opinion (or you’re a professional and being paid for it).
you can eat pretty much whatever the fuck you want every now and again and it’s not going to hurt you. keep in mind that few people can afford to live without the grocery store — hell, we own a subsistence farm and we still have to go to Food Lion for certain things. also, few people can literally afford to live without a grocery store. even though it’s higher quality food, buying the local, organic versions of things is very expensive and most people would rather pay rent.
so what if someone else wants to eat crap? don’t troll them with faux concern about their health, continue eating whatever you want and hope you never have to make the decision between buying processed food or not putting gas in your car.
